January Meeting Recap

Greetings, book club members! Our club got off to a great start last night with our first meeting at the Dancing Yeti Coffee Company. Nine of us showed up, suggested books to read for January, voted on the suggestions, and got to know each other a little better.

Our Book for January
The Bonesetter's Daughter, by Amy Tan, won the vote for the club's first month. Suggested to the group by Juliana Brown, The Bonesetter's Daughter explores mother-daughter relationships, Chinese culture, and the struggles of failing memory.

Get yourself a copy of the book and start reading!

Future Meetings
Last night we all drew months to determine who suggests books for future meetings. Here's the list:

February- Emi
March- Rachel
April-Juliana
May-Cameron
June- Jared
July- Tatiana
August- Ben
September- Omri
October- Stephanie
November- Dave
December- Justin

When your month arrives, here's what you do:
  • Bring three reading suggestions to your month's meeting. You will get to pitch each book to the group. After your pitch, the group will vote on your suggestions to decide the reading for that month.
  • Choose the next meeting location. You can choose a venue or choose to host the meeting yourself. (Please contact Rachel at least a week before your month's meeting with your choice for the meeting location.)
We will write timely posts, both on this blog and on the company community page, to remind members about meeting times and locations.

Our Next Meeting
Because the second Tuesday of the month falls on Valentine's Day in February, we will hold our February meeting on the third Tuesday of the month.
